Introduction of PI

Dr. Qi Wan is a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Mental Health and Public Health at Shenzhen University of Advanced Technology (SUAT). He was served as a Professor and Director in the Institute of Neuroregeneration and Neurorehabilitation at Qingdao University (2017-2024), the Executive Vice-Dean of Qingdao University School of Medicine (2017-2019), a Professor and Vice-Dean in the Medical School at Wuhan University (2013-2017), a tenured Associate Professor at University of Nevada at Reno (2008-2012), an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physiology at University of Toronto (2000-2005) and a Senior Scientist in the Toronto Western Research Institute, the University of Toronto (2005-2008). His research has been focused on the development of novel neuroprotective drugs for stroke therapy, the roles of neural stem cells in brain repair and the mechanisms mediating the function of glutamate receptors and GABA-A receptors. He has published more than 110 SCI papers in journals including Nature, Nature Medicine, Nature Neuroscience, Trends in Neuroscience, PNAS, Stem Cells, and Stroke. His research was supported by the National Institutes of Health of the United States (NIH) and Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the American Heart Association (AHA), the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada (HSFC), the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), and the Key Research Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology of China.
